Who's got the best quality vs price ? I'm new to shooting .223 . Should I stick with 55 grain? I run it through a Colt 6920LE ...

That's a pretty good price for LC 5.56. In fact 30 cents or less a round for brass 5.56 or .223 is what I shoot for when buying.

Now if you don't mind steel case you can get it for 20 cents a round if you look around. Saturday Cabela's had 55 and 62gr Herters for $3.99 a box. A lot of people were buying and I filled up my basket too.

"Ammo seek" list many many vendors with prices. Prices change from week to week. Good web sight for finding who has what.

I don't remember where I ran across these websites (prob here or the firingline), but give them a look:

http://gun-deals.com/ammo
http://www.ammoengine.com/
http://www.sgammo.com/catalog/rifle-ammunition

Gun-deals and ammoengine are aggregation sites or whatever; you pick your caliber and they search other websites (wideners, sportsmansguide, J&G, cheaperthandirt, etc.).

I think you can find Wolf/Tula for ~.20/rd. Some ARs like this ammo & some don't; I think it depends on your buffer because they are cheap russian stuff and are a little light on the powder. If you want brass ammo the best you'll find is .28/rd or so.

I don't know about the silver/brown bear ammo, but prvi partizan is decent ammo and my BCM likes it.

try

Aim Surplus
Palmetto State Armory
Surplus ammo and arms

All just under $300 for 1000 federal xm193.

I would stay away from Tula or Brown Bear
