Hello,

Where is the cheapest place to buy Bear, or golden tiger ammo online? Looks like $250 for 1,000 rounds is the cheapest I can find.

Sportsman's guide is usually the cheapest after you factor in shipping and the fact its pretty easy to get a $10 off coupon from them.

The two cheapest places I can think of are Copes Distributing and SGAmmo. You can get 1000 rounds of steel cased 5.56 shipped for just a hair under $250.

Have you shot it before?
I bought one box of Herter's (Tulammo) 62 grain steel case .223's at Cabela's a couple of weeks ago for $4.49. At that price I just had to try it. It's weak and short-cycles my Mini-14. Sometimes it jams at the ejector port, and sometimes it ejects cleanly but doesn't load a new round.

It seemed accurate enough though. Would be OK in a bolt action, and I still have half a box that I may try after the gun is broken in a little. But I'm really glad I didn't buy 50 boxes.

If your paying 25 to 30 cent a round for steel and 35 to 40 for brass then your right in the ballpark price wise. I've found with the shipping you usually only save a penny or two per round off the internet. I just bought some Tula from Walmart just for range use it was 26 dollars for a hundred rounds so that's about 260 per 1000. You just have to shop around and do the math. Some people are high but most are right in line with one another.

Have any of you seen the federal ammo cans with 420 rnds in them? It is filled with 62 grain, green tip, nato. They cost $159.00 at my local Wal-Mart and are sold out. That is a little higher than what you guys have found.

Sportsmansguide has Brown Bear 55gr HP for ~$205/1K rounds...but it's back ordered until 4/20. I have 2K on back order. Brown Bear is my favorite 5.56 range ammo since it is 100% reliable in all five of my AR's.
