hello, well im new here and i know ill get some chuckles, but money doesnt grow on trees around here , but i run into a friend needing some cash and he was selling a couple of pistols so i jump on it,we meet and he has 2 brand new german import fie import revolvers a rg30 32 sw long 4 inch vent rib barrell and a armenius hw7 22lr 6 inchvent rib barrell i had them checked out and was told to shoot away,my 80"s gun digest lists them for 139.95 and 129.95 each back then,so i went ahead and paid the 200.00 asked anyway my dad had a matching armenius 22 with multiple thousands rounds and was still real tight bought from otasco 25 years ago,and the rg must be a later made one because its a nice piece and i gave it to my brother for brushhogging my fields.also when i had the gunsmith check em out he said he could get 125.00 to150.00 each around these parts..i even found walnut replacement grips for both cant wait to try them out..

I just sold an RG 38 for $40.00. If you just need a cheapie, well then there you go. I wouldn't trust my life to it at all.....

got pics in the digi. camera, ill see if my daughter can post some pics i cant figure it out, shes checking with a hosting site,i read alot of crap about the rgs but they also say the earlier numbers like rg10 14 were crap later ones were better for starter guns the rg30 looks like a med. size dan wesson to me,anyways my brother loves it,also everybody craps on my sigma 9mm and it shoots fine too.but this arminius is real slick too seems built well.im gonna save up for a s w or taurus 22 lr and let em run side by side. 22 lot cheaper to shoot nowadays.

RG :barf:

The Arminius is a cheap, but not as bad plinker. I might go for the Arminius, but I would, if he was selling 'em both, use the RG as a paperweight and not let anyone know I had one, either. :neener:

Neither is real high quality, but IMHO, the RG is more dangerous to the shooter than it is to the intended shootee.

well i bought them, yeah i bought some magtech 32 ammo to run a few through the rg for my brother at end of week. i wouldve bought that arminius 38/357 in a minute for 100.00 handguns are crazy high around here.but i still like this arminius 22,gonna teach my wife and daughter to shoot with it.im happy with the deal and i would have lended him the money anyway to help out,so i took the guns ,now i wont stop playing with that 22.

The only problem I had with it was the grip. It has a thumbrest for a right handed shooter, but I am a lefty. It is impossible to find a replacement grip for this gun, but I was finally able to get one made for a model 5/T or 7/T. From e-gunparts. Aside from being a little small, it fit perfectly:

looks nice

heah im a lefty too, and i ordered the same grip for my hw7 was told the 7t will fit ,single screw through the bottom but for 4.95 ill give it a try.my local gun shop says he has arminius pistols go through the shop and never had any problems with anybody. the grip i ordered is for a hw7t in walnut since mines a hw7 i dont see any problems its a rather large pistol frame.

Arminius will probably be ok but don't expect much from the RG. it's good you helped a friend though. A gunshop would have given him next to nothing for those guns.

If I'm not mistaken, the "t" in the model number is for "target" or "trophy". I think all it means is it has an adjustable rear sight.

cool

yeah i cant wait for the grip and yesterday i saw another hw7 arminius like mine for 129.00 a iver johnson m 88 for 139.00 and a sentinal high standerd for 149.00 he said none of them will last long in the shop before their sold,we shot the rg30 and except for 10-12 inch groups at 10-15 yardson a fence post, it didnt blow up or anything, with such a lower powered round i think it will be fine,i wouldnt want to be hit with it.20 rounds and not a scratch on the pistol,my brothers tickled with it.im gonna pick me up another rg theyrs to rg31 snubnose 38s on gunbroker bid up to 169.00 right now and people are bidding left and right for rg10 rg14, and rg 24 sometin or others.

That is what I was thinking MCGunner. Hell, they are so bad even the worst pawn shops in the worst parts of town down here won't buy or sell them.
For $170, I'd add another 50 to it and get a nice used rossi or taurus.

i know their cheap

well somebody forgot to tell the gunshops around here about rgs because with the way gas prices and groceries theyre selling more hi points and rgs then they can find.and this rg looks like a medium framed smith and wesson with vent rib barrell from 1984 they sold for within 10 to twenty dollers of a comparable rossie in my gunbooks 129.00 to 139.00 new list to 149.00 to 159.00 for a rossie.but im disabled and on a limited budget anyway ,maybe someday a smithy will make its home here.

Hey Broken,

Welcome to THR. Let me respectfully suggest you try to capitalize and use some punctuation. Your posts are very hard to read otherwise. Quite frankly, many people won't read your posts for this reason. I'm not the grammar police but just making a suggestion. Again, welcome.

If your happy, be happy. You helped out a friend, I'd have done the same thing. You won't find many people with good stories about RG's, I certainly don't have one, but your story has a good foundation.

Trekgod,my grips came in one side checkering almost gone so i sanded both sides smooth.nice light wood underneath, they slipped right on now i need to seal the wood somehow, and i"ll attempt to be more punctual in my posts.thanks to all"got my head bit off on another forum.try to make this one work. mike.

I had an Arminius HW7 .22 with both cylinders (.22 LR and .22 Magnum) when I was 14. That was 31 years ago. My advice is don't shoot them much. They are out of production and parts are hard to come by. I broke the trigger return spring on mine within a year.

Good luck.
