The thread on the Russian less-than-lethal pistols made me think of this page I saw a while ago; http://englishrussia.com/?p=965
These are pictures of a bunch of the things that have been seized during the Chechen war, ranging from re-stocked Mosins and sawed-off shotgun pistols, to home-made submachine guns (called the "Borz", or "Wolf"), and even a few captured items like a DShK 38/46. The one that I would be REALLY nervous about shooting appears to be a home-made anti-material rifle for the 12.7 or 14.5 cartridge.

That rifle isn't homemade.
It is a Russian anti-tank rifle from world war two era.

They didn't last long because they were all but useless against Panzer tanks and the gun recoils worse than an angry mule kicks.

It seems like the whole concept of an Anti-Tank rifle died pretty quickly. I suppose because they had to be ridiculously huge, heavy and the recoil is horrendous.

Also, probably because they were replaced by the much more effective weapons like the bazooka.
