Last Saturday I was getting ready to start on the load development of my match .308 rounds, after the normal case prep I dug out the old Lyman powder measures, mounted it and, adjusted it to throw 42gn of 4064, then called it a night. The next day I hobbled back down and, started to check every thing, the first throw was over 92gn. The stick powder was bridged in the meter and finally let lose. In this case it was no big deal because every load was being weighed, and 92 gns is well over double of what a 308 case will hold, buuut, if it was hs-6 in a .45 bad things would have happened. So I chalk it up yet another reminder of check your measures often.

No this model has a barrel doohickey thingamajig that has two lock screws, the large part is adjusted first then locked in place then the two fine adjustments are set and locked. After the incident it worked fine for the 94 rnds that were made. Then I switched to 2520 and made 6 rounds, which metered just fine

I think that Sport45 was referring to the drop tube. My Lyman has a small one and a large one. Extruded powders tend to bridge in the small one.

Daaa. Dam Percasets! I, see, only 1 drop tube came with it, as far as I remember. I have had it since 92 or 93, and loader billons and billons of rounds using it, (ok maybe not that many), but a lot, this was the first time using a stick powder in a long time, and it work fine afterwards, I used the hammer every time and everything went well. The surprising thing was that it took so many times for it to brake lose.
