Check out my $300 AR

Here's a pic. Basically a parts gun that my buddy built, and he let it go pretty cheap.

M4 Configuration
-Rebuilt Oly Arms lower
-New bolt carrier group
-Painted stainless heavy barrel 16"
-Colt night sights in the rear (need to find a matching front)
-Flip down front sight
-Rail system with foreward grip

I put about 150 rounds through it, not a single hiccup. It was just on a pistol range with a quick zero, so no imput on accuracy yet.

I need to clean it up a bit, the lower needs some refinishing but for 300 bucks who cares? Also can anyone help me identify what upper is on this thing?

That is a buddy indeed. The PRI front sight/gas block and GG&G rail system are worth an easy $300 parted out on their own without the rest of the rifle. Throw in $150 for a new bolt carrier group. So he could have probably gotten $450 immediately and still had a barrel, lower receiver and A2 upper left over. Definitely a smoking deal...

Whose barrel is it? Are you sure it is stainless? It looks like your typical M4 barrel and the only people I know making those in stainless are Olympic.

Also can anyone help me identify what upper is on this thing?

What forge mark is on the right side of the upper behind the forward assist? It probably won't help too much; but it may narrow down the manufacturer. Also check for a "Y" on the rear face of the rear takedown lug. If you see a "Y" then it is a YHM/Bushmaster upper.
 
Holy Crap!!!!

At that price, and with those add-ons,I would prabably have to go and give that friend an extra 100 bucks just so I could sleep at night without thinking I hosed him:eek: !
 
wow, that is a great deal. definitely the cheapest i've ever heard an AR going for.
 
shoot that is a nice deal, congrats!!! I wish I could have spent that on my AR, shoot I could have bought 2
 
Thanks guys, it was definitely a deal. I would have gladly given him another $100 for the thing. It was just that we were both broke, I was barely able to scrape up the cash for this thing.

I just spoke with him today. He said the upper was a Rock River Arms. And the barrel was a lothar walther ss bbl.

I heard good things about the RRA stuff, any input on the barrel?

Also to the OP:VERY nice deal! If I had friends like that, I'd own an AR instead of just lusting for one....
 
smokin deal, I'm jealous. I bet he wanted to skip the dinner and movie...
j/k, like I said, I'm jealous. My RRA cost me a grand....
