That's some mighty fine looking checkering you've got going on there! Great photos and information on the whole process!

Dear Alaskan
When I read your post title I was afraid of reading of how a checkering when wrong on Bubba how to series.
However, and happily I can say congratulation, very nice job on your stock.
I have a Sweden Mauser 6.5x55 that drag me to buy another on Manlincher stock made CZ.
As a big fan of 6.5 swede myself it is a bit of resurrection for that Mauser.
Please keep posting about your project.

Btw I visited the Tekniken Museum in Malmo Sweden last week, I was able to figure out why I love their rifles and culture.

Yeah I think its walnut, but it definitely had some wierd sealer on it, now that BoomBoom mentioned it i wouldnt be surprised to find out it was pine tar. It certainly has a wierd odor...

I’m sorry, a lot of people here like what the see, but what I see are a LOT of flat top diamonds. Cut is not deep enough to make tips sharp.
Checkering will be cosmetic only, no “bite” due to flattened tops.

Needs a bit more work, But, otherwise, good work!!
