great fun gun to be sure, but great for home defense?...not so much.....ill keep my 870 WITH a stock

performs no better than a PGO pump (and PGO's are terrible for HD to begin with), and reloads even worse...these have a really awkward loading situation

my bet is they are going to try to sell to the crowd that buys their guns based on video games (this gun is in the new Call of Duty)

I am sure, the write up on the site compares it to the Terminator 2 shotgun. Reason I say home defense is my house has small hallways, and a lot of tight door ways. It would be much easier getting something like this in firing position in such tight places. My current home defense shotgun is a Mossberg 500 which will work but having done a test run with it (unloaded) through the house I can tell you that it was awkward in a few areas.

"....awkward in a few areas....

Most likely, this is a training issue, not hardware. Do some shooting from the off side.

A walkthrough here shows it's best RH from the upstairs to the main floor but LH is best down to the dungeons.

And one thing about the 1887 platform.....

Back then, these failed to sell at a time when lever action rifles were moving out of the Winchester, Whitney and Marlin factors as fast as all three shifts could make them.

Even though the 87 offered massive capacity for the time over the SxS, the makers just didn't convince Joe Shotgunner they needed one.

A few years later, the pump actions came out and sold like cold beer in Hades.

Obviously, people had issues with the L/A shotguns we're not seeing.

As a toy, like the 410 Winchester 94, why not.

As a using shotgun, well........

I wouldn't mind seeing a full synthetic stock on that modern twist of the 87.

I just saw a guy shooting cowboy with an 87 last night and I have to say it was intriguing. You have the tube capacity and then when doing a speed reload you can drop two at a time, bang bang, drop two more..... Arguably it has the benefits of both a tube fed pump, and the double pop of a sxs.....

Well it was interesting to see, and he shot pretty quick...

Humph.........

I built one of those about 5 years ago. Somebody traded me a Chinese '87 for something I was selling and he failed to tell me that he was a midget! The stock had been cut down about 3" and the pad refitted. So after messing around with it a while I cut the bbl down to 18 1/4" then got the tape measure after that 26" limit..........It is surprising how compact it is! The mag capacity is 6 shells with one up the pipe and it is not possible to get this close to 26" with a pump. Of course a SxS will do it but only has a capacity of two.......

Makes a HELL of a truck gun.

The balance is off though.......it spun better with the short stock!

Looks like fun!

Buy me one and I'll evaluate the merits of using it for defensive purposes, I'll need one of the stocked versions as well for comparison.
