Shoulda gone with the GSG 1911.22--- I've got over 6000 rounds through mine since June and had only 6 FTF's early on, and those I attribute to ammo experimentation... The GSG is more true to the 1911 internally, and worth the extra money....

What type of ammo are you using? If you tried to save on the gun, I'm guessing you're doing the same on ammo--- try CCI-- well worth the extra penny per round!!!!

Yes, they get better. Mine did, anyway. Trigger gets smoother and lighter. I had some trouble when brand new with a couple of brands of ammo not feeding very well. The owner's manual says it takes 200 rounds to break in. Mine required about 300 and now it feeds everything but the brand that gave the most problems. Even that brand has improved to one or two failures per mag instead of about 60%.

I have around a thousand rounds downrange now without any other problem.

Mine didn't get better after spending $60 to return it to them for repair.

Sorry, but like me, you got suckered into buying expensive junk :(

Wait till you get around 3-4 thousand rounds threw it and one day you're shootin it and tyhe barrel bushing, spring and guide rod go down range!! Lotsa fun tryin to find all the parts!

But yea they do get better, when you either sell it or trade for somrthing good.

Yes they do. My friends Chiappa was less than reliable for the first 500 rounds or so but after it broke in it has gotten a lot better. One thing I've noticed is that the thing doesn't like to be dirty at all. With a lot of .22 guns you can go through a brick before cleaning it, with the Chiappa you don't want to go through more than half a brick.

yeah he's not all wrong.. many hollow points get stuck on the lip of the feed ramp
I've got a bunch of autos, mostly 1911s, that run just fine with HPs, including a GSG 1911-.22. In this day and age there's no excuse for any new auto to not feed HP ammunition and I've never heard of it being an issue with .22 autos. To say that "Auto-loaders hate them...." is old school thinking and more often than not the new ones work just fine, if a gun won't feed HP ammo then a trip back to the factory for warranty repair is in order.

Does any one know if the chiappa 1911-22 gets better after being broken in.

I sincerely hope it does. I borrowed one for testing, fired a couple of hundreds of rounds, returned it and bought a Colt (Walther/Umarex) Rail Gun on the spot. It isn't perfect either, but after the Chiappa it sure felt like it. I've used staple guns with a crisper trigger than the Chiappa.

Some gunsmithing can do wonders but I couldn't be bothered.

I dont really mind the trigger since one of my other pistols is a smith and wesson sigma and the chiappa is alot better when i use high velocity ammo
