Chicago Trip & CCW?

I'm making a weekend trip to Chicago next week and need to know what to expect. I know they forbid CCW, but what are the laws for having an unloaded gun in the truck? I'm guessing that there's no way around the no carry law there either. Can you have the gun on you but unloaded?

Were supposed to be staying in the higher end section but I still want to know what my options are.

It's like another country in Chicago. Daley is a dictator and routinely ignores local, state, and federal laws to get his way. Don't be surprised if legally transported firearms are confiscated if discovered during a traffic stop in Chicago.

Even if the handgun ban is overturned,which it will be,that still will not overcome FOPA,1986.
We need to get rid of the GCA of 1968.
That will solve most of the the interstate problems.

I know nothing is going to change before I head up there as far as the laws go. Looks like I have no options. Sure make me appericate living in a free state.
