A long time ago, I had a url for a site that compared the causes of child deaths - but unlike most, this had statistics for the number killed by skateboards, swimming pools, allergic reactions, dog bites, etc. versus the number that were kille by gunfire.

Can anyone point me to the right source? (Please, I need this specific information - if what you have is the common generic cause-of-death info, don't post; I've got lots of references to those. I need the detailed, by-item statistics as noted above.)

I need this to debate someone in the media!

If you can find a place that documents the actual ages of the "children" shot I'd love to see it. I always cringe when I hear "child shooting" statistics because I'm sure more than half are teen age bangers.

In "More guns , Less crime" John Lott Jr. uses JAMA for some info.
I tried to read articles on their site but it's subscription based. Spend a few $$ and get the book. It's chock full of charts and data. He had the exact info your looking for in the book.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has charts giving mortality by age groups and by race as well as causes.

The format of the presentation seems as though it deliberately discourages research, but the information is there.

Their website can be found via Google; it will be a dot-gov URL.

In the FWIW department, "children" is generally limited to 14 and under. Well, at least by those with no particular political ax to grind. :)
