I saw this spent case at the range today; didn't even have to pick it up to know that it was .308. I had never seen copper-washed steel .308 so I brought it home. Turns out it is a Chinese knock-off of Radway Green ammo, complete with fake NATO marking. Corrosive. I've seen their corrosive M1 carbine ammo with fake LC headstamp, but never anything like this:

I was a major shooter of Norinco ammo when it was importable in the 80's, early 90's.
As it was landed on the West coast, it was 1/2 the price of the later Euro import Milsurp ammo that had to be trucked across the Continent to get to me.
1440 Copperwashed steel case 7.62x39 or 7.62x54r were 89$ a case LANDED back in those days. 7.62x51 wasnt much more.

I sure wish I was shooting that caliber then and had stocked up......it was when I discovered the M-28 and M-39 Finn Mosin's at less than 100$ each, and the Mosinitus never did go into remission....

Yes, they made deniable stuff with fake British markings on it. It was written up in one of the gun rags some (many?) years ago.

at one time Norinco 308 was $3.95 a box copper washed 147 gr and was accurate enough at 300 yds sitting with my M1A that I stopped loading for it

I have a good bit of the white and black box "Chinasports" ammo in .308. It is good ammo.

In 1989 I picked up 3 sealed tins of that steel cased, Chinese knock-off NATO .308 ammo. 300 rounds per tin, and back then it was advertised by the seller to be "mildly corrosive". Shot up 2 of those over the years with no problems and it all seemed pretty accurate. Got rid of the last tin about a year ago when a friend was in the market for some cheap .308 range ammo for a CETME he had picked up. Same stuff as the OP described with the same headstamp. Took a picture of that last 300 round tin before it went out the door.... IMG_0360.JPG .
