From what I hear, Arsenal of Bulgaria got some Chicom drum equipment and made some. They then imported some I believe.
I could be mistaken. I got this info from arf.com ak forums.

This is a hot topic on the AK forums. At this point, thousands of Bulgarian drums are flowing in through wholesalers so several of the retailers carry them now. Cope's has them, but also AIM and DPH arms. All are selling them for $160.

The demand for these drums is very high, so no one is dropping the price yet.

Honestly, the price may drop $20 or so in the next year, but I can't see if going lower than that.

When I brought up this thread previously, it got kind of annoying because suddenly 5 guys were bragging how they bought drums back in 1993 for $28 and how you'd have to be a bloody fool to buy a drum for $160. :scrutiny:

Hmmm, well I bought gas for $1.02 back in 1993, does that make me foolish for paying $3.50 today?

For a true AK-phile, and collector, it isn't about the price. These drums have been so hard to come by for so many years (and generally $200 or more on gunbroker) that this is a great opportunity. It may be worth it to snatch one up before Obama or some ATF bureaucrat signs a piece of paper banning them. JMO
