I will be moving to South Carolina in a couple months, and I was interested in getting my CHL. Filling out the paperwork should be pretty ok, but I was also curious if anyone had a line on a decent, affordable CHL class for SC. FYI, I'll be living in Clemson, so any place that's within easy driving distance is preferable.

Thanks in advance.

I sent a PM to CannonFodder with all the info on the Clemson area, including NRA/SLED instructor contact info (Don Brady) and where to shoot nearby (Dove Field). There is also a 300 yard rifle range at a private club near Greenville.

Thanks, guys. :)

I'll be getting my grad degree there for the next few years, and I look forward to becoming active in the local firearm community, and maybe even bucking up the campus groups.

So, yeah, perhaps some shooty meets are in order in a couple months :)

I'll be a graduate assistant in the English department - yay, I get to warp young minds!

And, yeah, I knew about the Tiger Town Observer and that hullabaloo... it's just that, as a hardcore libertarian, their fundamentalist neo-con stuff really turns me off.

here - try this site

just scroll down to select your county: List of SC CWP Instructors
it's not a complete list, however, so you may still need to do some searching.

good luck at Clemson! All my friends went there, while I got stuck at USC. Also, I'm not sure if it's still there, but there used to be a free state-supported shooting range down in Easley somewhere. that was where my dad took me when he first taught me how to shoot. it may be a bit of a drive from the university, but it was free. and being a fellow college student, I know what your budget's going to be like :)
