Choices for concealed carry (i'm sure nobody's done this yet!!)

But seriously, I will be getting my concealed carry permit soon, and, living in FL, I usually feel like I need it! When it comes time to select a gun, what do you recommend out of the following:

-CZ 2075 RAMI (love CZ's, looks easily concealable)

-Smith J-frame (like the idea of simple operation, less worry about follow up shots, should it come to that)

-CZ 82 (love CZ's, can be found for around $220)

let the games begin! Also, I will dismiss OUT OF HAND any opinion that includes the word "Glock". Great gun, not interested, move on.

Everyone should have a J-frame. With a good belt even the steel ones can be concealed in a pocket and they disappear IWB (especially tucked). However, unless you are already used to shooting revolvers the felt recoil can be tough (slow follow up shots) and they can be harder than most guns for most people to shoot accurately. If you are already experienced with a revolver I'd say the J-frame.

Out of the other two, I'd probably go with the 82. From what I understand the RAMI isn't always 100% yet. Also, it seems a bit thick to me (I like IWB so thickness is BAD for concealment).

If you'd consider other offerings I'd say go with a 2-3" barreled K-frame or a CZ PCR (assuming you definately want a CZ). The short barrel K-frame is handy, concealable, heavy enough for quick follow up shots, and just plain fun. The PCR is (IMHO) the best CZ ever made.
 
Choices for concealed carry

It has taken some time for me to come full circle, but I am going back to revolvers. I have found that I can draw and fire, more accurately, with a revolver than an auto. For me the revolver is a more natural pointing handgun than any automatic.

When things go south, you may only get off a quick snap shot and usually it will only be a one handed shot at that.

Pick the one that you point and shoot, one handed, the best. Your other hand may be pushing a family member towards cover or carrying a can of beans:D.
 
I'd go with either the Rami or a J-frame.

The J-frame will be easier to carry and conceal in the hot and humid weather in Florida, but the Rami can be carried well if you do your part.
 
You need more than one carry gun. The J-frame is the easiest to conceal and can be carried everywhere in any kind of clothing as long as it has pockets of a reasonable size. I think everyone needs at least one J-frame in their inventory of carry weapons.

That said, while a J-frame is better than a knife, a shap stick, or harsh language, it is also the last of the three that you would want if involved in an actual gunfight. It has the worst sights, the heaviest trigger (at least after the first shot), the most recoil, the least ammunition capacity, and the longest reload time. It is easy to carry though, so at least you will probably be carrying it all the time.

If you must limit yourself to only one of the three, I'd get the J-frame because it is the easiest to conceal under the broadest manner of dress and it much better than a .22, .25, .32, and even a small .380 in terms of effectiveness. I carry a J-frame pretty much all the time, though usually as a second gun. There are times when I can't conceal a compact, mid-size, or full-size handgun that I carry only a J-frame.

Given your choices, I'd go with the J-frame and the RAMI. However, if you shop around and are willing to buy used, you can probably get both a J-frame and the CZ-82 for little more than you would pay for a NIB RAMI.
 
Rami. The 82's caliber is just unnecessarily small for its size and weight. 9mm is definately the better choice. The jframe is going to give you an edge in concealability but its also much harder to shoot well.
 
Out of your 3 choices, I'd go with the Smith, but Geez, the Kel-Tec PF-9 is a great gun made right there in Florida, and has a lifetime guarantee, for half the price...

If that love comes from having handling and firing it before, looks like that should help your process a bit!

Though +1 to needing more than one carry gun. Even if you don't carry a backup gun at all times, what about times when you'll be without your primary? Like needing to leave it at the gunsmith for something - or, the worst case scenario, you need to use it. You survive, but the gun is taken as "evidence."

If it were ME, I'd pick one of the CZs for primary and the J-frame as a secondary/backup.

*disclosure* I'm looking for my first snubby right now, so maybe that clouds my judgement a bit? ;)
 
I'd go with the CZ 2075 RAMI. It's a great gun -- easily concealable and shoots well for its size. It has a higher capacity than a J-frame, better trigger, and a longer sight radius. I used to have one, but I got rid of it because I couldn't find any night sights for it. The 82 is a good gun IMO as well, but I would not choose it for concealed carry as it has a marginal caliber at best and it is even larger than the RAMI, which packs a 9x19.

Also, as said before, you will need more than one carry gun eventually. For example, my primary carry gun is an HK P2000SK, but when I go to work I have to take extra care not to be "made." So when I go to work I carry the Taurus 605 snubby. It conceals better than any other gun I've ever owned, except maybe the KelTec P11 I used to have. J-Frames are wonderful for concealed carry, but I really would not want to be in a situation where I had to use mine. Even in a low-stress range environment I can only get 5-6" groups at 15 yards, whereas with the HK P2000sk I can manage 2-3" groups at the same distance.

+1 i wind up buying Armor every 10 years or so. It get's loaned out and never returned or lost...

+1 on the Rami as well
