Dime sized first group at 100 yards with 139 grain American Whitetail ammo. I am happy with my 300 dollar rifle!!!

Recoil with the 7mm-08 139 grain and the pad that was on the rifle (not sure factory or not) was virtually non existent.

Now I don't know due to my lack of centerfire rifle experience - maybe I am not rifle recoil sensitive although I know I have a handgun flinch - but I had no flinching with this after 10 shots or so. But I know the 7-08 is supposed to be very mild and i agree.

I am probably going to keep the rifle as is for now! I might still want to replace factory stock next summer with something more attractive and functional (a quality fiberglass that can be shot slung up without deflection) but right now I am going to turn my focus to the actual hunt itself, buying and setting up my tree stand and practicing shooting from field positions. I am really excited that it was so easy to work out the rifle part of the equation for a price that can't be beat, I wouldn't sell an accurate rifle for several hundred more than I paid for this.

I don't think I mentioned previously it is a Savage Model 11 and from what I can tell it is of 2010-2012 manufacture and was sold in the FCNS configuration. It has the 4.4" action screw spacing which is a center feed action.
