What brands and type to you recommend for IDPA shooting? Kydex is the preferred material. Side Armor, Hellwig?
Thanks

If you must know--try the Blade-Tech rig. The regular holster and the double mag holder seem to do the job very well. Couple that with a Wilderness Instructor belt and you'll be all set.

I'll second the Blade-Tech holsters. I have both IWB and OWB holsters and one of the double mag pouches shown above. I've been using the IWB and mag pouch daily for about 8-10 years now and they are still going strong. :)

I like my Sidearmor... very comfortable for all day carry and allows for a fast draw - but its hell on my guns finish. I guess one could say that it gives the gun some "character". ;)

But honestly, if I ever get a really "nice" 1911, I don't think I'll carry it in a Sidearmor for fear of completely ruining the finish. Will probably go with a Milt Sparks VM2 instead. But that's not for IDPA then either...

hmmm Kydex??:barf:

OHH well here are a few...in no order,

Sidearmor
Blade-tech
Cen-dex or something like that
Stellar Rigs

Kydex?:barf: :barf:

specwar: I've enjoyed using both a Safariland model 5183 and a Hellweg "C" series SWAT (not lo cut in the front) which are both outside waistband holsters. They are both lined holsters as well and have a small amount of adjustability in them. Hopefully IDPA will still allow holsters that have the ability to adjust. There was some talk of taking them off the allowed holster list. These both offer good retention yet speed of draw. I also have recently purchased a used Bladetech straight drop belt holster and it is quick as well. I have a Cendex IWB that is very nice as well.

The Hellweg C's are on teh exclusionary list I believe. They are, however, a great holster (I have one) as they are fast and non marring.

I have also found no problems with a simple Uncle Mikes Kydex holster for IDPA, but the Fobus are too flimsy.

Definitely go with a Wilderness belt.

I use Comp-Tac's locking paddle on all my IDPA guns - SSP, ESP, CDP, and SSR. Good stuff.

I'll second Ktulu's recommendation of Comp-Tac. They also make excellent, lo profile kydex single mag pouches that are easy to put on and take off your belt, yet aren't going anywhere. They are secure. Excellent service, and you can also order the pouches at your own custom angles if you so desire.

Holster Ideas - Thanks

Thanks all - I jusy got a Hellweg Compact off ebay for only $10!
I also have an uncle mikes as well. Fobus was just too flimsy - as stated by some of the bro's here.

I am looking at a Comptac & Sidearmor as well.
