I made a few great posts in the Autoloaders forum in a thread about this basically explaining that they're liable to overprice the 1911s the way they do their M1 Garands.

Overprice?
If CMP gets 1911s and repairs, grades, prices, and stands behind them the way they do their rifles every pistol will be sold in a week.

It would be nice if it happens, but personally I don’t care as long as they have the requirements of: 2.Be an affiliated club member of the CMP; and 3. Participate in a marksmanship activity approved by the CMP.

If I could buy direct and have a weapon shipped to my FFL for delivery, great! Otherwise it doesn’t do me any good.

Supply and demand will determine if these guns are "overpriced" or not. My guess is that if properly graded, they'll sell like ice water in Hell. AS far as other posts on the subject being "great"...after reviewing them....thanks for a chuckle! I couldn't disagree more with the "points" made in those posts regarding the pricing and grading of CMP weapons

Where were these hiding? It was reported in the day that Clinton had a contractor grinding them into scrap 24/7 while Congress fiddled around. And we lost most of the M14's in the process, too. That was when the DCM went under and there were no sales.

So, was somebody misreporting their existence, or are these returned guns from overseas?

Overpriced? CMP has historically been a great deal.
