This question is primarily for any Class 3 dealers out there, but anyone with experience is welcome to add their $ .02. I did a search for Trusts and found some answers but not all of them so here it goes: Can a Revokable Living Trust be used to transfer ownership of an NFA item without any LEO sign off? In other words will item #17 on Form 4 (I'm looking at a blank one now) be left blank with the affixed tax stamp?

I went to the store to pick up my form 4 today thinking all I had to do was submit the $200, photos, and fingerprints, but the clerk assured me only Corporations or LLCs (or natural persons) could own NFA stuff. The form 4 wouldn't be approved without the LEO signoff. They said they'd never seen a Trust approved in about two decades of business. I'm now thoroughly confused. Can someone help?

No, he'll sign. I just figured it would save up to a month if I sent it directly to ATF instead of waiting for the Sheriff to sign off. (Which takes up to 3 or 4 weeks in the Vegas area)

If you have a sheriff who will sign I would go that route. Be patient; what’s a few weeks more for an item you will have for the rest of your life.

However, my friend used Quicken Will Maker to make a revocable living trust and made a SBS on a form 1 and purchased a suppressor on a form 4. By going the trust route you can bypass the fingerprint cards, photo, and sign off.

My local NFA dealer had never even seen an individual purchase before. All of their sales were almost entirely to trusts with a couple corporations.

If they have never seen a Trust approved, it is because they have never seen one submitted... They are approved every day.

And no, you do not need a CLEO sign off for a trust.

i have 4 items on my revokable living trust. i used willmaker and have never had any issues. the quickest has been 33 days mailbox to mailbox.
