OK, Looking for the low down, but not the last word on it. I'll do the legal research after I get all THR legal advise.
Brother just got registered as a corporation for his insurance business he is starting up. I mentioned that corporations could get MG's without the CLEO's signature. He wants to know more.
Do the MG's have to be the pre '86 transferable MG's? If so, how do security companies that deal with high security overseas buy this many pre '86 MG's? Anotherwords, can he legally buy a AR-15 and register it as a machinegun and drop in an M-16 sear? LEGALLY

What is the difference between Class II and Class III?

How about a short barreled rifle/ sawed off shotgun?

BTW, he's in South Carolina.

NFA weapons are called Title II weapons. They are incorrectly referred to as "Class III" weapons.

You can only by pre-86 fully transferrable machineguns, that is, machineguns that were registered with ATF prior to the cutoff date in 1986. If you buy a registered M16 drop-in sear or lightning link, you can place it into any AR-15 to shoot full auto. The sear or device itself is considered the machinegun.

You cannot register new machineguns. Therefore you cannot purchase an AR-15 and install the M16 full auto parts to make your own machinegun. You can register other NFA items like the SBR/SBS/AOW. In this case, the corporation submits an ATF FORM 1 and $200. When you get the form back approved, you can make the NFA weapon.

OK, I'll buy that info. But someone tell me, how do all these security corporations that are overseas in the middle east and the oil rigs down in south america provide the full auto weapons? One can assume that they purchase them in the states, most likely get some range time with them before going into the area they are going to be protecting?

They can own them because the guns are not inside the United States. If you look at the prices of the pre-'86 machineguns, you will note they are not buying these guns in the US. It is perfectly legal for you to go to some foreign country and buy a machinegun if they will sell you one. As long as you do not try to bring it into the US, there is no problem.

OK, so I guess they do all the traning with the "Evil Semi Autos" that are going to be flooding the streets starting midnight of Sept. 13th?

Most if not all security corperations are class III FFL's, a class III FFL, can have post 86 machine guns on the books, they just can not selling them to citizens, or none FFL, corperations.
