Here's an option
If you feel confident with your handgun knowledge and skills you can use a Virginia hunter education certificate to qualify for CCW. It takes 2 nights (4 hrs each if I remember right) but it is free, and although there is no focus on handguns, it is a very informative class. This is how I got my CCW, but years ago I had already taken a ccw class, when it was only $50, i think its about $75 at most places now. If you dont know much about ccw then go ahead and take that class, I just thought I would share an option that I know works, and can save you a little $$. BTW, I heard about this from a guy at Virginia Citizens Defence League while I was at a gun show, then Emailed the county Sherrif's dept. to verify before I did it. If you have never heard of VCDL check them out, good info about CCW and they also qualify for CMP purchases, I am not a member but I am thinking about it myself.
