Has anyone tried the 7.62 x 39 Yugo ammo from Classic Arms in a Ruger Mini-Thirty?
http://www.classicarms.us/ammunition.htm

My Thirty won't shoot the Wolf steel case ammo - period.

I'm wondering if this Yugo brass with the Berdan primers will work in the Mini-Thirty?

The price is almost too good to pass up but I don't want to end up with a boatload of ammo that won't fire in my Ruger. Then I'd have to go out and get an AK. :cuss: :D

I have heard that the yugo 7.62x39 is good ammo. I see no reason why you couldn't shoot it in a mini 30. Aim Surplus has this ammo as well just a little cheaper than Classic. Either way its a great deal.

You will need to keep in mind that this ammo is corrosively primed.

Unless you're willing to field strip your Mini-30 each time you shoot this ammo and thoroughly clean it, you might want to pass.

There is no such thing as "mildly corrosive" (no more than there is "mildly pregnant")

Thanks for the head's up. I'm not so much concerned with that, the Thirty strips pretty easily.

I thought about trying a 40-round box at $6.75 but AIM wants $13.74 to ship it!

Ah, yep....You usually need to buy more than one box to make up for the shipping, when buying ammo online......What does Classic want to ship?

let me say I bought the stuff exactly from the website you mentioned for MY mini-30.....

the only problem is.... I traded the case off for a glock .22lr conversion without firing a shot.

fyi, shipping to my place was $55.

I have however come across some other Yugo brass that did fire in my gun, but not always on the first strike.

The yugo ammo has excellent terminal ballistics. It has an air pocket in it like the Russian 5.45x39 giving it wounding characteristics similar to hollowpoint bullets.

It's also brass cased, which I like, I haven't tried converting it to boxer primed, but that should be possible, which would be an attractive option for for cheap (albeit labor intensive) reloading.
