Classic Model 40-1 ... discontinued?

I've been considering this as a BUG and checking it out on the S&W website. It's been taken off for the last two or three days. I also have ffl login info for a major wholesaler online, and they are on clearance. MSRP about $900 each. They have four nickels for 571 each, and six blued models for $549. What do you think? Do these thing go up in value when discontinued (if that is the case here)? That nickel one sure is sweet looking, and it doen't have an internal lock.

I don't think most of the "Classic" models are expected to go up in value since most collectors would consider them inferior modern remakes of the older models. That particular model might do better than most; I believe they left the lock off of it since it has a grip safety.

Seems like a decent price for a new J-frame if you like the grip safety, but I wouldn't expect it to gain any value anytime soon. That said, I always liked the looks of them. Hopefully someone with experience with the classic model can give you some info on performance and finish.

Depends on why they discontinued them. Slow sales or parts failure of some sort. At any rate,like the previous post they are not the"original."

If they made it without that lemon squeezer it might be worth a look.
