The local Forest Service range was busy today. At least five out of the eight lanes were occupied, mostly with handgunners, the whole time I was there. Gobs of brass laying everywhere, and every one of these guys was sweeping it up and heading to the trash can with it when they were finished shooting. No one there was reclaiming any empties.

I conveniently provided a box and helped sweep up, with their blessings and thanks. When I got ready to leave, I must have had forty or fifty pounds of empties. There is some rimfire brass and some steel and aluminum, but the rest is once-fired brass. Looks mostly to be 380, 9mm, 40s&w, and 45acp. I'll be busy for several days just sorting and culling the stuff.

Man I love going to this range.

I recently calculated that before I started reloading I must have left about $2,000 in .45 ACP cartridge cases for other people to benefit from.
It's nice to go get a little refund on that!

12 five gallon buckets of range brass fetched me $1151.00. Thanks fellas.

Yep, I went to the scrap yard on Friday with several buckets of split, cracked, or otherwise unusable brass, plus quite a few expended primers. $1.98 a pound, netted me well over $300. Time to start on another scrap bucket.

The 2 ranges near me hardly ever have brass left on the ground and when there is brass it's only 9mm and 40 S&W brass. I can't remember the last time I saw a 38 Special or .357 Magnum case on the ground and 45 Auto brass is also none existent. You got very lucky with such a brass haul! Good for you...
