Does anyone clean hulls before reloading, especially to remove the burning near the mouth? Are burnt hulls more common in one type of shotgun?

If you clean yours, how do you do it?

No shot shell cleaning here either.

I guess I'd clean off the ones that might have been in the dirt for a while but any more, I only pick up the hulls that I've shot.

Not in decades. But in my trap shooting days I’d put a hundred in a mesh bag, laundry bags designed for socks or ladies unmentionables, and run them thru a wash rinse cycle in the washing machine. A few large bath towels were added to cushion the load and deaden the sound. The Federal Gold Medal and the AAA hulls were all plastic in composition. No paper or fiber base wads.
