Hello,

I own a Remmington 1858 and the barrel has some very modest rust deposits inside it. What is the best way to clean it? I have a brass bore brush and some EZ clean patches to use plus I have some Hoppes's #9 gun oil on hand.

I bought this revolver a few days ago and it was pretty clean looking. Later on while I was inspecting the gun at home I noticed a little modest rusting on the inside of the barrel. I'd like to take care of this problem ASAP.

Should I run the bore brush through the barrel with the hoppe's gun oil after I use a few EZ-clean patches? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks Duncan, Frog's site was very informative and I learned a lot about how to make my own cleaning solutions. The EZ-clean patches worked beautifully on my bore but I wouldn't recommend them for cleaning the exterior surfaces of the gun, even though EZ-clean recommends it. The patches leave a strange residue on the gun that I didn't care for, Hoppe's #9 works much better.

Thanks for all of your help and your advice.
