I have recently become aware of a product known as the "Clipdraw", which is essentially a small clip that attaches via some sort of sticky tape to the slide of an autoloader, to apparently give the ability to "holster" your weapon without an actual holster. At first i thought it was a cheap gimmick, but i'm curious as to the validity, quality, and pros and cons of the product. While i usually carry my Glock 27 in a Galco "Summer Comfort" IWB, i figured that maybe the clipdraw would have its uses. For instance very short trips, like taking out the trash or something. The website states that the "tape" stays very secure and yet comes off when needed with no residue. Anyone have any experience with this product? Thanks. Also, this is my first thread, how did i do?

Fortunately you do not have to use the tape. In fact, I've never seen one mounted with tape.

The clipdraw will mount to your G27 by replacing the rear slide cover plate with a new one that comes with the clip and is drilled and tapped for two mounting screws.

They work just like you would expect. Pretty decently secure depending on your build. They'll usually hold the gun a little lower in the pants than a holster, but not always.

I probably couldn't bring myself to trust the tape, but there are some seriously impressive adhesives these days that can often outperform the base METAL they're applied to, so I don't doubt that it could be done.

But you don't need to trust the tape. Get the one made specifically for your series of Glock (the "GS" model) http://www.clipdraw.com/store/index.php?rn=392&action=show_detail and you'll be good to go.

I have them on GL 19 & 23 and 2 1911's. They are a fairly simple answer to quick and secure carry and I rate them high.
The quality of the steel is better than that of the KelTec clips as far as retaining the spring tension.
I have found no detrimental function and holster use is still OK with no interference.

i have one qestion. I would be worried about the trigger not being protected. I would bother me. I read somewhere about a guy that was caring that way and it went off. did some damage to his rump.

I would think that might be an issue, especially with the Glock having no external safety, but then again it would only be for very short trips or with garments that don't allow a belt, otherwise i would use my Galco. And would be "extra careful".

Glock ND's happen most often when stuffing one in your pants instead of a holster that shields the trigger safety.

Think Plaxico Burris for instance.

I wouldn't put a Clip-Draw on a Glock on a bet, if I intended to ever carry it loaded that way.

I use a clipdraw on my g23 and my xdsc9 one uses the mount and one uses the tape I have not had any problems in the 3 years I have carried them that way. I love my clipdraws and carry both my pistols with one in the chamber. A ND is exactly that a negligent discharge dont be negligent of your firearm and practice proper firearm saftey and wont have any problems.

ok so there isnt a clip draw for my g26 ?Which is sub compact i beleive.

the clip draw looks like it would be a good option...,my friends father had it on one of his pistols and mentioned it would get caught up on things and thats the last thing you want when using for self defense everyday carry.i dont own a clip draw but was very drawn to it.
