I live in NYS, i have taken the hunters safety course, which included shooting a 22, is this enough to qualify for the "firearms activity" that the CMP wants?

I know the requirements state "hunters safety course with live fire training", Do all NYS hunting safety courses include this in the course, or was the sportsmans club where I attended just throwing in something extra? how strict is the CMP in enforcing this?

I am just looking to get my ducks in a row before i drive out to central OH, that would be a bad day to make the drive only to get turned down!:banghead:

You would be best served by calling the CMP, and seeing what they say instead of asking here honestly.

I think that it will, but it really is something that you have to have no doubt about. Do you have your club affiliation yet?

Don't forget your proof of citizenship either.

Easiest way is to be a member of a club that is affiliated with CMP. As was said, it would be best to just call them and ask.

yes i actually just joined a club that came right off their website, that counts as all the firearms related activity i need?

I believe so, but I would call to be sure and be sure to take your membership card and accepted forms of ID.

When you say drive out to Ohio do you think you can buy firearms there as a New York resident? I would check that out before going. I know they can deliver to your house in some states but don't know about in person purchase by someone out of state. Would be good to know. I have bought several CMP rifles by mail and had good service.
