Just watched a CNN report on the Gilbert Arena story. Long story short, a couple of NBA players pulled guns out to try to intimidate each other over a poker debt in a NBA locker room. Seems like the guns were brandished more than pointed, but stupid nonetheless.

The story was a typical CNN anti-gun hit piece, but did cover the fact that more professional athletes are arming themselves because they are targets of violence from fans and robbers.

The part that caught my attention was at the end, where the reporter said that the NBA and NFL had policies that prohibited athletes from using or carrying guns on "company property or time." Also the "NBA and NFL recommend against carrying guns for personal protection."

I don't see how the NBA or NFL thinks they are somehow qualified to give out advice on personal protection, and they are setting themselves up for liability when another athlete is attacked.
