Coast To Coast Stores Shotgun

OK here is a question I have NO clue how to answer; years ago I inherited a 20 gauge single shot shotgun.

It says Coast to Coast Stores Model 946E-Y.

I don't even know the age of this gun, I was wondering if anyone could tell me about how to start researching its age who makes this thing (I figure that some large company produced it for Coast to Coast stores.) I need to get this thing worked on but not sure how much its going to cost that’s why I would like to know who makes it etc, so I can get an idea of if it will be a relatively cheap fix or not.

I believe your Coast to Coast gun was produced by Stevens and is the same as their Model 940Y break open single shot guns. Parts should be available . I'm unsure of the year of Mfg .

minrivrat is correct. Year of mfg is difficult to determine on these "Haredware "Guns as records were not kept as detailed as they are today.
