I bought the Wife a Small little Pistol Mainly just to Hurl a Bullet at someone when Im out of town. Took her to the Range to at least shoot it to familiarize herself. This thing was the epitomy of Jam O mattic . I could'nt get more than 1 rnd through it in succession without a jam. Then the trigger flat out Broke. I took it apart and there was a Broken Peice of a Pin that fell out. Less than 25 rnds and this Peice of *&$@ broke. I know you get what you pay for but 25 rnds.

Wow, that must be frustrating. Sorry for your bad experience.

If you want to look at another low-cost .380 with a good reputation, see Stephen A. Camp's excellent range report on the Bersa Thunder, which generally sells for around $200.

Just an update.

I called Cobra industries ( i think Formerly Davis/ Raven/ ......)
I spoke with their service department, and the Guy I spoke with knew already what Part had Broke and told me why. He explained that I'de have to send it in and they would have to Mill something to keep it from happening again. He was Very appologetic and told me that they could have it back within a week. I told him that while apart I noticed the Feedramp looked like sandpaper and could they look at CLeaning that up too. He said that it would return only when it was relyable. All I wanted this thing for was for my wife to have something she could shoot to defend herself if the need be For the week I plan on being Gone. She's a small woman, But I guess the Winchester model 120 12 guage. will have to do

I think you are speaking of Cobra Enterprises (www.cobrapistols.com). They bought up a bunch of defunct firearms companies, so their product line is very mismatched. The Cobra 45 is a decent pistol (used to be the Republic Arms Patriot 45). I think the CA380 is a direct decendent of the Davis 380, but I don't know if that is the gun you are referring to (they have three different 380 models).

Ok....got my flame proof suit on...so Im set!

Cobra is in SLC...and is not the old companies renamed.

Im not a supporter of these guns...but will pass on what was told by me by Cobra.

They bought the patent rights and all of the spare parts from the companies of the guns they copy/mimic/what have you.

There goal is to produce a quality firearm....all are lifetime guaranteed....for a very low price. The ways of the past companies are supposedly "out the window".

The QC inspector/Engineer I talked to seemed very knowledgeable and sincere while speaking to him....

You may have gotten an overrun or bought out gun of previous manufacture that happened to end up with the Cobar name on it..........cant say for sure......

They Picked it up Today, and will Fix it or Supply me with another one. Well see how it goes. If not Is'nt there a Peice of Desert that someone owns for Guns like this?????

Sorry, but why bother? Get your money back and get a Makarov or PA-63, or even a CZ52 or CZ70...all very inexpensive but reliable pistols.

They won't give me my money back , I bought it at a gun show. I will however when I get the Fixed one , or a new one. Sell It, and Spend a couple hundred more and Get her a Revlover...that way it is keepin it Simple.

Saw a Cobra .380 in my home town for $115.00!?

I went home for a visit, and stopped at the local gun store. I ran across a black Cobra .380, listed for $115.00! I was, to say the least, shocked at the price. I have more than enough pistols for now and so I didn't rush right out and buy it. It looked decent; it functioned smoothly, and it had a decent trigger. But, something very deep down inside of me said, "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is!" I thought I would read at THR first. I am glad I did. Then, I bought a nice Kel Tec .380, hard chrome with green polymer. It's reliable and unbelievably a accurate--it's smaller too.

Thanks for the info. Please update, as if it IS fixed properly, I may still buy one...for now, I'n in wait-n-see mode!

Nope, that's the old Cobra Commander; the newer one has a hood and "swivel arm battle grip".
