Test loaded 10 Hornady XTP 9MM for my Ruger LC9S at 1.100" following a published recipe for TiteGroup.

During test firing, three of them caught on the feed ramp so the slide didn’t go into battery.

I was wondering what overall length others have found works well with XTP bullets in an LC9S.

I was interested in TiteGroup because it works well for me in everything from .380 to .45 ACP and for other 9MM bullets. Interestingly, 9MM Hornady Critical Defense load flawlessly and shoot well.

XTPs often need to be ran short. I had an SR9 that would accept them them long. Something like 1.125, but my current guns require 1.070, or thereabouts. Which is right around what some of my manuals call for.

Have you plunk tested your XTP rounds in your barrel to determine OAL? XTPs have long nose (ogive) and can hit the rifling. A couple of my sub compacts need an OAL of 1.070 to 1.090

First thing I did, with a dummy round before first load. Rotated cleanly.
Thnx for asking. Not a good mistake to make, for pressure reasons.

Will try another published TiteGroup load of length 1.075 next.
