Years later, in a Creative Writing Class, I wrote a story called "Where Are My Children?" about an incident where two of my men were missing (later found inside the enemy base camp, dead.)
Several people questionned it -- "You were only a few years older than they were. SOME of the people in your company were older than YOU. How can they be your children?"
A grizzled old WWII paratrooper was in the class and explained it, "He was the Old Man, and they WERE his children."
