Anyone seen one of the new Cold Steel Boar Hunter knifes yet ?? What do you think about the blade shape , point , steel , etc. ----- not like I don't have enough blades but for around $60/$70 is it a "deal" ??

Plan on hunting any boars with a knife? I wouldn't use that one.
I've handled a bunch of knives specifically used for boar hunting and none of them left an large swath unsharpend like that to drag or hang up.
Nope, goofy design for stabbing into the dirty matted tough hide of a boar. Better off using an old Enfield bayonet.

What a dorky looking knife! I have stuck a few domestic and wild pigs in my day. When you reach around that shoulder and "stick" the last thing you want is a goofy subhilt to grab your fingers and twist the blade out of your hand - or worse if the knife gets stuck or the pig twists around on you! The old bayonet idea, if razor sharp is a good one. On a good sized pig you want a 8"+ (with up to about 14" ideal) medium width blade razor sharp with an excellent penetrating shaped point for heart stabbing.

Thanks for the advise ---- I will find something else to spend the $70 on --- like more AR/AK mags !!!

Enfield? As in the spike? If you have to hunt a Boar with a knife I would stick with the traditional Bowie, and you can pick one up for less than $70 bucks.

Define "traditional" bowie.
I don't think I'd bet the bacon (mine or Mr. Piggy's) on much that comes out of the BudK catalogue. Quality is generally too low to stand up to a boar hunt.

( i saw a PUMA Saufeder on a fleamarket once ... like 40yrs old
and in perfect condition. The guy asked 100$ for it and i passed
as i had no idea about them. ...i found out i could have gotten 1300$ instantly for it.

Real boar spears are worth a lot in the collector market.
I know several folks that have done knife/hog hunts and I've been invited on 3 or 4 (and always declined). We've had a few members here do them and get their hog with knives.

Went boar hunting around a year ago. Took three medium sized boars with my 8" Kabar utility with the tanto tip. It was the first time I had ever used it and man was that thing sharp. In my nervousness i started twisting it around to make sure i had the heart and ended up carving a 7" hole in its side. In my opinion the tanto is a very good choice for this job.

The top knife is a Mad Dog Rezine 9" blade that I use for domestic slaughtering. I did 2 wild ones with it too. It penetrates and sticks very well. I used to use a 8" Bowie from Randall, this profile is better for the purpose.
