For those who like medieval weapons, this is a real bargain, and it'll soon be gone.

This isn't a wall-hanger; it's the real deal, a forged-steel, differentially tempered fighting axe with a "war hammer" backspike. Think of it as a two-handed tomahawk on steroids. I have collected medieval weapons (they're ALWAYS loaded), and this is the best battle-axe I've ever seen. I cut the pole down to 36" and ditched the langets, and the result is formidable.

Cold Steel makes some great products, and this is one of them. If you like edged weapons, this is a must.

This is cool but I think I'll stick with my gunpowder driven weapons, more concealable and also ALWAYS loaded (mine are).

How much does this normally sell for?

Not sure

I really don't recall the original price, but I think it was around $60-80.

I don't plan to USE it (though it strikes me that it beats the s*** out of a baseball bat). I just feel a certain connection with my Celtic ancestors when I hold it.

Besides, any well- made weapon is a thing of beauty in its own right, IMHO.

also check out cold steel machetes

i love the new line of tactical machetes from cold steel, patterned after some of the worlds most effective short swords...just got my 18" kopis machete...freak'n awsome..gotta have a barong or seax next these babies go beyond mere weed wackers..oso grande knife & tool has been runing a sale on them for$11.00 + s+h...worth checking out:)

Poll Axe

got my pole axe !!!

got my pole axe , was waiting for me when i got home for work. took a few of trials to figure out everything but i finally got it put together. oddly enought, i wasnt sent a set of destructions.

probably the most helpful thing i did was use a dremel with a stone to flatten out the insides of the screw holes in the axe head. the metal was built up inside from the drilling. after that just a little sanding got it right on. then i was able to drill the holes straight through to the other side fairly accurately. after a few trials of that, i learned that it works better if you then remove the head and drill a larger hole than is required. i had to find out that one side set of holes is for the female screw and the other for the male. with the larger holes drilled through the wood only, it makes it easier to line up the two screw tips.

the langettes (?) were easier to put on, but in a real fight or practice type situation, im doubtfull that they would hold with those tiny screws. Also, as with my Norse Hawk i will need to reshape the blade with a file. but , all-in-all, im pleased with it, especially for the price. - Eric

glad you like it

You went to a lot more trouble than I did. I cut down the pole to 36" to make a good two-handed axe, rounded the butt, then hammered the axehead on. I don't have a drill, and it was a really tight friction fit anyway, so I just screwed it down with a half-dozen 3/4" wood screws. It's not going anywhere. I trashed the langettes; they looked funny on the shorter handle and interfered with the grip, besides the teeny screws.

I love mine. It's like my Spyderco Civilian--I've never been that mad at anybody in my whole life, but it's nice to have it in case I ever am.

If you're like me, your feelings about a weapon like this can be summed up as, "Of COURSE I don't intend to ever USE it on anybody--but ain't it COOL?"
