Let's see, there's:

-Sure Strike
-Sharkie
-RPB
-Honeycomb
-Brooklyn Crusher/Smasher
-Escrima Stick
-Bushman series knives
-Big Bore Blowguns
-Indian War Club
-Gunstock War Club
-Sticks
-Bad Axe
-Special Forces Shovel
-Tomahawks
-Delta Dart
-Spears
-Sjamboks
-Torpedo
-Koga SD
-Sarong
-Cruciform Dagger

Anything interest you? I can see some of the goofier ones being decent weapons for teenage kids who cannot knives/guns but have a need for protection.

I can say this for the Special Forces Shovel...

I was given a real russian OTK issue version and also was trained in its use by a ex FSK player.

WICKED ....to some it up in one word. The FSK guy I trained with was outstanding in his ability with the weapon it was really amazing..IMO.

Able to remove arms with a single strike, very close to a ax but with a thin wide blade. Shovel moves like a blade in the hand with just a bit of training.

Outstanding thowing use, damage the shovel causes is crazy....if thats your thing.

Excellent impact weapon.

Good shovel in a pinch....etc....etc....

I have seen the cold stel version and its very close not perfect but close.IMO its to thick and part of the "magic" of the shovel is the thiness.

The real russian version is very thin but very well heat treated...Mine was WELL used when I got it and I have beat the crap out of it and it still can be honed to a razor edge with ease. I just pound it back to shape and resharpen. Its a very interesting carbon steel of some type....VERY TOUGH.

Handle is a odd wood looks like pine but is some russian wood and it has still not broke or cracked in many many throws.

If the shovel could be concealed ...I would EDC it ..really its that good.

I think that list falls into two categories: 1. Useful Stuff, 2. Mall Ninja Stuff. The useful stuff includes things like the shovel and the tomahawks, which can easily be justified as part of a survival kit or included in camping/hiking gear. You could get away with having the bats in the trunk of your car if you also had mitts and a baseball therein.

Things like war clubs, daggers, dagger hairbrushes and the like are Mall Ninja Stuff. Most jurisdictions have laws prohibiting the carrying of such items, and truthfully, I'd hate trying to justify having a war club under the seat of my car. It's like giving a gift to the staff of the District Attorney's office to do that. If you're going to carry gear in your car other than a firearm, it would be best to carry the sort of stuff a policeman carries: a side-handle nightstick, for instance, instead of the war club, or a can of pepper spray instead of the hairbrush dagger. A prosecutor can't use those as weapons against you in court as well as he could the assault war club, good only for killing and maiming.

It's cool that they make war clubs, though. I have one of their poleaxes (discontinued) that has no practical purpose for me, but still looks cool leaning against my wall.

And some of that stuff, like the Bushman and tomohawks, are downright useful. I've heard good things about the shovel as well. And the throwers are cheap, as are the blowguns, and those look really fun.

I own:
Mini Koga SD2
54'' black sjambok (new pattern)
Vietnam tomahawk

And I've handled the special forces shovel because a buddy of mine just had to have one.

The only other things I would consider purchasing are a Sharkie (for some reason I can't find big sharpies around here) and, if ever I needed a cane, it'd probably be a CS cane.

The Sjambok sits in my room, as does the tomahawk. I have replaced the dedicated-weapon koga with an alternative-legally-defensible-uses maglite AA, when I carry one.

Still, the plastic they make the stuff out of is almost indestructible (see: sjambok + tree, sjambok + old refrigerator) and if you really want a beater war club for some reason (?) their prices are good.

Just fine in the wilds, I'd say. But not suitable for EDC. I'd recommend a knife for that over, say, a war club. But the fitness of their knives for EDC is another topic entirely.

ETA: Throwers? pish tosh. I'm wan to throw bullets, and I'm good with them..

The survival shovel is fantastic! Really sturdy, great tool for the price, good weapon in a pinch. I have used it a couple of times camping and once to dig my car out of the snow, I would highly recommend it!

Most of their stuff is strictly mall-ninja though...

That sjambok would probably have some uses. I think it'd be cool to try hunting with the blowgun. I'd like to bring it along when I go rifle deer hunting, just to silence the noisy squirrels.

I have used several of their nightshade series and have found them almost indestructible. They're very cheap comparatively and also very light. I've been able to conceal them easily around my car and clothing. For instance the delta dart and the jungle dart can easily be lightly sewn behind the lapels of the suits that I normally end up having to wear. In my opinion it's the weight issue that makes these so great to carry. As far as strength goes, I'm sure that Cold Steel has a video or two of them. They're not meant to cut. The point is the point so to speak. Point first I would back these against most knives. If you're looking for easily concealable backups for car, house, and clothing; I would personally choose one of these.

Jesse

P.S. I'm sure this has been said before, but while Cold Steel is a very good product they also charge a bit much if you order from them directly. I normally order any knife from any manufacturer through Smoky Mountain Knife Works in Gatlinburg, TN. They're the largest knife store in the world and as such they often are able to buy in bulk and pass on the discounts. You'll often save 15-20%. Good luck.

Theirs a surestrike in the mix also...they suck to thick and steel is very soft.

Their 'hawks are one of the best values anywhere in the market. I've been looking for an excuse to pick up a new one but after 10 years and 2 handles my old Norse hawk is standing up strong. They're a great buy.

I also have their discontinued poll axe. I got it out of curiosity (great price too) and it is enormous. I spent a week oiling the handle but never got around to mounting it.

I'm surprised they don't sell atlatls. I think things like the Sharkie and the Koga would be good for kids who have to deal with thugs at school, but cannot carry a knife is this age of "no tolerance".

Wouldn't mind having a tomahawk, that shovel, and an assegai spear.

The only things that interest me are the sticks (the City Stick is remarkably strong, decent looking, and would make one hell of a weapon) the Sharkie (I have 4 or 5 of them in any of my bags I'll use as carry-ons) and the shovel.

Anyone ever check out their sword canes on the other page? I'd actually consider buying one for the weapon collection, but the things are so damn ugly. Cold steel does have some great prices on their various chopping tools though. (machetes, axes, tomahawks, etc.)

i own some of those things. the frontier tomahawk, the long assegai, the boar spear, and the samburu, and a sjambok. i do get use from the 'hawk. i have a hunting trip in the works, boar hunting, so i'm hoping to get some use from the spears as well.

"Are those scissors sticking outta that log?"

Sharp eyes and Yes...I throw items for fun and can throw about anything with a edge or point. Razor blades, scissors, tin can lids, whatever.
