Cold Steel = VERY BAD Customer Service

scythefwd,

No I'm not missing the point of the deriders. I'm choosing not to be diverted from the main topic by the their "off point" opinions.

I am, like you, very aware of that issue.

But I don't know what has motivated his choice to do what he did neither does anyone else. He might be giving them away. He might have a more valuable collection than anyone else here. I don't know. But who cares?

The OP wasn't willing to over look it. So what?! We bash him because you would over look it (the deriders, not you personally).

I personally took umbrage to his cause because similarly, I just experience terrible customer service.

Had I posted the experience here I would've been insulted with a borage of people saying;

"well thats what you get for only spending $189"

and

"why would you buy that brand anyway"

and

"who cares that it didn't fit, why are you complaining".

Makes me wonder what happened to good customer service and if anyone is listening.

You guys crack me up. You all would be the first to bitch and moan if the handgun you bought said "1912" on the side or your new truck was badged "BM" instead of "GM".

So what's the monetary threshold if for someone to have a legitimate beef? The guy bought two knives plus probably paid exorbitant shipping so he's probably $30 into it. No one was asking CS to scrap the whole line or retool. All customer service needed to say was ship em back and we'll make good on it. Yeah the tone of his emails was a bit strident but that's what you deal with when you deal with the public. It should have been an easy, inexpensive solution but CS cheaped out and now we have a thread three pages long and probably more than a few people who won't buy CS products in the future.

Far as I can tell, nobody's casting aspersions at the OP for buying an $8.99 knife. (That's the actual price.)

Here's a review from that site:
Good all around utility knife. Very sharp and strong lock. The lock take some get use to but once you get the hang of it, it no problem to use. Things that I not thrilled with are it is a two handed knife for opening and closing and the handle does feel cheap but hey at 9 buck it is cheap! Great knife to use on everyday chores especially ones that might have a chance a damaging your high dollar umber folder. At the price I may buy a couple of more just have in the tool box and etc.

This isn't a tactical knife, and nobody expects it to be a really good knife. But for under $9 you could do worse.

But it should also be readily apparent that this is probably not a real Cold Steel knife, either. Some Chinese company wanted to release it under their brand, some deal like that, or they wanted to do a run of ultra cheapies as a promotional move. So you'd know going in that this is just a cheap Chinese knockoff. The typo in the logo tells you that much. The only reason the OP isn't getting major props for dissing the firm over this is because it wasn't reasonable to complain in this instance. Buyer got what he paid for.

It appears that a lot of people who replied in this thread did not actually read the thread. If you're going to bother to reply you should at least read the original post at the bare minimum. Sheeesh! :banghead:

The Cold Steel CS said that it was a misprint. It couldn't have been more clear.

Cold Steel's Reply on 4/29 at 4pm:
That is actually a misprint that had been found on some of the Kudu knives. That does not appear to be a knock-off.

Shockwave,

Okay, your shockwave hit me, and left me more confused than ever.

"Far as I can tell, nobody's casting aspersions at the OP for buying an $8.99 knife. (That's the actual price.)"

Where've you been? Still off topic and if by aspersions you mean lying about the worth of the knives, true. But if by aspersions you mean damaging the OP reputation for buy a cheap knife, you need to start over and read the thread again.

"This isn't a tactical knife, and nobody expects it to be a really good knife. But for under $9 you could do worse."

All that is just confusing but making my point. Over 60 words written just to call the guy a cheapskate. Totally your opinion and way off point.:banghead:

Bad Customer Service inexpensive or not!

I got a fixed blade, a higher end fixed blade, from Cold Steel. The sheath didn't fit, was too small for the knife which stuck out of it exposing a 1/4" of blade or so.

Cold Steel customer service didn't understand what I was upset about.
