Apologies if this has been posted already:

Slate Poli Cartoons about AWB Sunset

Most are blatantly disgusting. NOt too mention most are inaccurate and misleading. (Inferring the ban was on machine guns, all gun owners are murderous rednecks, streets clogged with victims of 'gun crime', things like that).

I usually ignore most of them since we know the media is biased (just look at the current rathergate thing) but, viewing all these at once got my blood going....

I refuse to look at that drivel and give them the satisfaction of claiming another viewer to the website.:neener:

Wow...pretty much all anti-gun, with a lot of ridiculous assertions and outright lies. We should register and license these dangerous cartoonists. :)

This one, at least, acknowledges the ban doesn't stop shootings.

Not sure what the point of this one is:

Not sure what the point of this one is, either:

Yeah, those two I was a bit muddled on....they almost...almost seem to be just a touch less left than the rest.

There is one with a reporter interviewing Bush about it which I thought was actually kinda funny...more because it's a good poke at Bush's....shall we say, Political Savvy...

Is that one pro-gun? I think its trying to say how neutured rifles avoided the ban anyway, but I'm not sure if its meant to be pro or anti.

The guy in bed with the AK (at least the safety is on!) looks like me when I first got my Benelli.

ANyone who thinks gun owners sleep with their guns obviously never woke up with a bruise on the side of their head

The media has been permitted to get away with this because the public is illiterate when it comes to firearms.

Yeah, the public might be illiterate when it comes to guns but Democrats who learned the lesson in 1994 about voting to take away people's guns aren't.

Wow, the racial and socio-economic stereotyping is incredible.

Reminds me of the big-nosed Jew, wearing a black suit and hat, while grinning wickedly in Nazi propaganda.

Destructo6

You have hit the nail on the head! The propaganda and slander used against law abiding gun owners is exactly of the same sort used against Jews by the Nazis. JPFO used to sell a little sticker about 4" square that that had a star of David with the words "gun owner" in the middle to make that very point.

VPC and Julius Stricher(sp?) would LOVE each other.:barf: :cuss:

Karn,

Just a thought, but could it be the rise in "assault weapon" sales during the ban?

Don't mean to hijack, but I was perusing the cartoons regarding the CBS document forgery scandal and I found this. It's beautiful:

This one bugged me. I had to write to the "artist."

I said:

You are a talented artist. It was easy to recognize the AR-15 .223 rifle in your cartoon.

You show it having blown a deer's head to bits. That's the problem.

Seriously, call your state department of natural resources. In most states, you're not allowed to hunt deer with an AR-15? Why? It's not powerful enough to reliably kill a deer.

The 30-06 and 30-30 rifles, which haven't been banned (yet -- give the Kennedy/Kerry team a chance, and we'll see), are much, much more powerful and accurate.

That may be why real snipers -- you know, in the army? -- use versions of these hunting guns, not "assault weapons."

Do you understand what the ban was about, or the criteria by which guns were allowed or disallowed, or are you simply passing along a party line, and adding to its propaganda?

Long guns (shotguns and rifles, including the banned guns) accounted for about 3% of all firearm crimes before the ban...and about 3% of firearm crimes during the ban. Crooks like pistols -- they're easier to hide.

Your job gives you a lot of influence over people's opinions. You should use that power more wisely than you did in crafting this cartoon.

Respectfully,
