College themed poster

I will update this concept with new photos and some variations on the text.

FWIW, I just discovered that the model is turning 28 this week, not 26 as I thought.

Replace the fork with a pen or pencil! or a protractor or ruler!

@Bazooka joe - I rarely see a college kid that doesn't look homeless...

I think it is just way off the mark and does not communicate anything like what you intend.

I think a split picture.

One side is a normal looking college kid with a couple books under her arm. Basically looking defenseless.

The other side is the same kid, clean cut and wholesome, with a holster clipped to her belt.

She looks mildly psycho in your pic. No offense to her or you.

I think the first concern in any poster which depicts gun owners is that it must convey the message that they are good solid trustworthy citizens. The fact that the model in your pic is a grad student means nothing if she looks like a ghost in a horror flick.

Something that looks like less of a hand-cannon (as compared to the model's hand & arm) would probably be better. A compact Glock, 4" or 3" 1911, or 2" .357 would probably work. Maybe photoshop in 'College' on her shirt or something similar (or two random letters and a U) so that its obvious she's supposed to be a student.

Maybe "XD University" or "XD U". Seems like the easiest.

I like the concept, just worried about the stressed out student at finals time.

saw some real nuts during finals.

A female college student without a cell phone? Impossible! Since both hands are occupied, maybe she could have a blue tooth.

To those worried about concealed carry:

Arguments against concealed carry on campus are the same arguments that were used against concealed carry anywhere.

Being relatively close to college age, I think the girls' state of dress is off - most students today wear COMFORTABLE clothes to class (this is the polite way of saying pajamas). I think Oleg could strike a nice chord by showing what I would consider to be a typical college "uniform" - a girl with a sorority t-shirt on (toss 2 or 3 greek letters together and call it good - perhaps a Mu and a Lambda which would be short for Molon Labe) and a pair of jeans, a skirt or shorts. It'll instantly be recognizable as collegiate in nature.

Gunsby blazen, you write
also, college kids seem to be a little wet behind the ears to be able to judge a situation in the best possible way

think about it this way. A blanket ban on concealed carry covers ALL college students...including that 10 year veteran who is using the GI bill, that retired cop who is taking a computer class, the mother of 3 who is taking art classes, that blue collar wielder who at 40 is finally finishing the degree he abandoned 20 years ago, the mother of 3 who is taking art classes, the 30 year old business exec getting his MBA.

The very people who carry concealed right now, if they decide to continue their education, they cannot carry.

That's the issue.

We don't want to hand out little pocket .25acps with the freshmen orientation package.

However, we stand that a person who is 21, who has taken their own initiative to addres their safety, who has gone through a background check, who has take training classes with their own money, these students are NOT the 'wet behind the ears' type you refer to.

Plus, all the other non-traditional students who are VERY far from the stereotypical student

About the picture and model....

I agree with everyone a modern handgun is called for. I'd not go for the glock, I'd go for a snubnose revolver, or a pocket pistol.

Regarding the 'student' she may well be a 26 year old grad student, but that is NOT how she looks going to class. Where is her stuff? I'd throw a messenger type bag over her shoulder, or ask her to bring her regular book bag that she really uses. Also, I constantly see students with their I'Ds in a little plastic sleeve hanging from a strap around their neck or they have some pink springy wire on their wrist with key and id hanging from it

She needs something to say 'college student' as opposed to any other random 18-30 woman doing anything

I thought the model was the crazy one when I saw it. I don't like the blurring, nor do I like her clothes. I think she looks like the girl everyone picked on coming to get revenge on the popular girls. I'd go with a really preppy girl decked out in Lilly Pulitzer.

You know, thats an interesting comment Sebastian.
I dont know about the point a bout the preppy girl but your first comment is worth taking note on.

Have her in focus, with a modern plastic semi auto and wearing a backpack so that the straps show.
Backpack = Student regardless of how she is dressed. Won't interfere with the pic like a messenger bag would even if it's not as fashionable.

Please no snub revolver/mouse guns. That stuff is insulting and highly irritates women who shoot.

I have a suggestion as a college student. Maybe something about how you are no longer treated as an adult with the same rights when you step onto campus property. Maybe a picture of a person in public or at a range, then one on the other half standing on a campus by a gun free zone sign.
