4 of 5 bullets hit their mark

From the Colorado Springs Gazette (www.gazette.com):

Four of five bullets fired from the gun of a security guard at New Life Church hit Matthew Murray during his deadly shooting spree at the megachurch on Sunday afternoon, according to autopsy results made public Tuesday.

But a bullet Murray fired into his own head is what killed him, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office said Tuesday.

It was a 9mm Baretta. A total of 10 shots were fired by Ms. Assam, with 5 hitting their mark, none fatal though. Two in the legs, one in the arm, one in the wrist, a superficial chest wound, they were saying one of the rounds was deflected. This is pretty typical in a combat situation, 50% hit rate. The gunman killed himself, gunshot to the head.

Miss Assam actually did an excellent job as it was reported she was firing on the threat while calmly walking towards the threat. And still had a 50% hit rate that is excellent. She did what any CCW should have done by disabling the threat. The fact that the suspect terminated himself is moot to what is expected of an armed civilian.

Yeah, I don't think he would have sat down and killed himself if he thought he could ride out the rest of his carefully planned hateful spree.

Next time, the would-be copycat is going to think twice before gearing up. Getting shot by a girl is probably not the way they want their obituary to read.

Not to mention the fact that she was also in a weakened state from fasting all weekend! She was one of the worshippers as well as a guard.
