I have terrible vision. I have worn glasses since I was 11. Even with glasses, I don't see very well past about 15 yards with black and white targets.

Over the last couple of years I have fiddled with just about every kind of paper target out there trying to find that magic combination that will help me see my target. I also like to measure all of my groups when I am working up loads so I wanted something with grid-lines. It also seems like everyone has different color schemes that work better for them (My color scheme works for me). I finally gave up and made my own.

I know there are a lot of "Free" targets out there so I am just tossing these out if folks want to try them. I also don't consider them even close to "Free". Since they are color, there is some cost involved. I have a color laser printer and they cost me about .10 each for the letter sized targets and about .15 for the legal.

I find the "Letter 4 inch" are very visible for me out to about 15 yards. The "Letter 5 inch" are good out to about 25 and the "Legal 6.5 Inch" help me see out to about 50 yards. I don't use optics often but, when I do, they are REALLY visible out at 100 yards. For sighting in a scope, I like the "8 Inch Letter" because the heavier outer circle just seems to help. I have uploaded a couple of these in another thread and could not link to them for some reason so here are all 4 zipped.

The grid-lines are 1/2 inch.

Thanks Schwing. I look forward to trying them. I've been wearing specs since age 4.

Thanks for sharing.
I see black-on-white better than any other "color" option, though black-and-yellow is close.
Red, being color blind, just isn't very good.

Thanks for the above targets.

I like these for pistol.
You can change the center color in word if you want, it was easy now I just need to remember how I did it. :banghead:
Being cheap (black and white laser, color inkjet)
I just use a highlighter on the center of ones printed off on the laser with a plain center.

Thanks for sharing your targets.

I have also made my own targets due to the eyes not being that good anymore, and also to help lining up my combat sights. With the combat sights you have to cover the bull, so a nice colorful bull did not help me.

Since I am also cheap, I print these on an old laser printer, which I just loaded my last toner cartridge. When this cartridge is done, it will probably be time to get rid of the printer also. Maybe next year.

First of all print the target on my old cheap printer. Then I add the load information with my newer printer from an Excel spreadsheet where I keep all my load information. Next I glue the shocking pink rectangle onto the target. I align my sights over the pink, underneath the black circle. The pink shows between the front and back posts, with the front post underneath the black circle. I am thinking of maybe adding a mount and scope at some point, juts so I have more consistent load evaluation.

Attached is my 15yard target. Following shows a earlier version of the target with the load data, pink rectangle and evaluated load.
