my Colt 1851 navy #24327 I figured was a 2nd gen c series as its not a signature model and serial says made by Colt 1979 the barrel has the Royal blue hue to it so o tookit apart to clean it and of course everything has matching serial numbers but whatmy question is. inside the plunger end of barrel is f127 telling me its an f series shouldn't that make it 3rd gen signature series or what is it. thanks for help

There was 2nd Gen C-Series. which was just the 1851 Navy and 3rd Model Dragoon, also including the 1851 Lee and Grant sets.

Then there was the 2nd Gen F-Series, which included 1851 Navy, 1861 Navy, 1860 Army, 1st - 2nd and 3rd Dragoon, Walker and Baby Dragoon.

Finally the Sig Series which included 1851 Navy, 1861 Navy, 1860 Army, 1st - 2nd and 3rd Dragoon, Walker, Whitneyville-Hartford Dragoon, Baby Dragoon, Wells Fargo and Paterson.

The above are just the basic models, there were also variations, special editions in the F-Series and Sig Series.

That F127 # is just there for the fitter. It should also be on the trigger guard, grip frame, cylinder, and inside the grip itself.
