Is anyone familiar with this pistol? What's a fair price for one made in 1914 with about 80% of its bluing in tact and very minor pitting on the front of the trigger guard? It is just the pistol and one mag (no box and/or papers).

In this area, expect to pay $5-600 for a semi clean (but original finish) Vest Pocket, less if it was refinished at some point in the past or has aftermarket grips.

They shoot nice, but .25 ammo is outrageously expensive. Must be gripped very tightly for reliable functioning.

I don't know anything about prices these days, except that nice vintage Colt automatics go for a lot. People's opinions on what constitutes 80% finish and minor pitting vary a lot (especially depending on if they are buying or selling) so most people would tell you they need to see good photos to give you a reasonable estimate. As a ballpark, and as a buyer, NIGHTLORD40K's figures sound good to me.

I have one I got from my wife's dad; he carried it when he was Vegas Cop in the 40s and 50s as a backup gun; shoots great!

That should be a nice shooter, but it has definitely been refinished. Those originally had a very high gloss blue with casehardening on the trigger and safeties. I would say you still got a good deal, but hardcore Colt collectors probably wouldn't be terribly interested in it.

Pop some little pills in it, give it a Kung Fu grip, and have fun with it!

these Colts are probably safe to carry in the chamber, one of the few old hammerless auto .25 that are. They are also super reliable , I have never seen one jam. And, for a sightless gun, are pretty accurate and excellent pointers

My Great Uncle Robert carried one all the years he worked for Southern Railway. I believe it was very popular with railroad men.
