I have come into a Colt stainless 80 series pistol. It came to me with two Colt slides- one with 9m/m breechface the other with .45 breechface. There are three barrels, a 9m/m (Kings) .38 Super-(Colt) and a Colt .45 ACP barrel.

There is no way to make this work is there? The ejector on the frame is a 9mm/.38 ejector. I cannot get the .45 slide to mate to the frame (ejector too wide for the .45 slides slot) and am sure it would not eject if I could.

Just wanted to make sure there is no way to do this before I part with the 9m/m and Super barrels and slide. I will have a new ejector installed and fit the .45 slide.

There is a way,,,,
Buy a second frame and build the .45 parts onto it.
You will wear the ejector pin holes out in short order trying to switch the ejectors back and forth.

Nah, I just plan to convert it to .45 and LEAVE it that way. Will sell off the other stuff and recoup some of the modest cost of the package. NO idea what the Super slide and barrels are worth but that's the plan. Should be worth something as it is a Stainless Colt slide.

I've heard it argued that ALL 1911s "need" an extended (Commander/9mm) ejector. So to make this work you could have a new Commander ejector installed that will fit the .45 slide, then leave it in place when using the 9mm/.38 Super slide.

Or you could just go with Plan 'A' -- but you can make it work if you really want to.
