I found a Colt 1911 chambered in 9mm at one of the local shops today. It said series 70 on the slide, was blue, and everything looked original including the wood grips. It was in very good condition. I thought it was new but the shop owner said he bought it from someone that had only fired it once. What would be a fair price for this colt? I couldnt find one on gunbroker and my google searches didnt give me an idea of how much they are worth. From what I understand they are rare pieces because colt didnt make many of them.

Without knowing any more details, the gun could go for $600.....or it could go for $1,000 or more. Being a Series 70 9MM, this should mean it's an older gun, and probably closer to the $1,000 mark.

I had a Series 80 9MM, and it was a great shooter. But this was a used gun, and needed some TLC which I wasn't able to do (or willing to pay for).

Ok, thank you. The owner said he would $800 for it but he might let it go for a little bit less. I'll probably think about it and when I go back to get it... it'll be gone.

Offer a little less. But if in good shape 800 is OK. I have a 1951 Commander serial 62XX and its a nice shooting pistol. Not a target gun but good enough for SD
