I got a call from my local shop today about a 1911 they just got in. The way it was described to me was a two-tone Colt 1911 TE. Anyone know if Colt made anything called a TE? I haven't gone to look at it yet but was told it was in good condition. Would this be a series 70 or 80 gun? And would it be worth the $750 they're asking?

You sure it wasn't a DE (Delta Elite 10mm)? You know how easy it is to mix up letters that sound the same, especially on the phone.

Could it have been a "CE"? That would be Colt's Combat Elite, basically a Gold Cup with a blued carbon slide, stainless receiver, and wrap around rubber stocks. These fetch about $750 to $800 tops.

So I got a chance to stop in and look at the gun. It was a Combat Elite, which what was stamp on the right handed side of the slide. On the the left hand side was stamp Team Elite which was why he called it a TE. It was the blued slide with stainless frame with rubber wrap around grips so I'm assuming it's the same as other Combat Elites.

Edit: Sorry it's an Elite Team not Team Elite, seems it was part of a set that Colt made that was a 10mm and a .45, and unfortunately the 10mm is missing from this set :(

You guys are gonna get me in trouble! Just got a Sig P220 and a Colt Mustang and now you have me looking strongly at this one! :banghead: It was nice though.....
