Anyone know howmany of these were made? Are they still being made? I found a great deal on one NIB for $899 at a store and I really can't afford it right now. I was just wondering if any of you guys knew. I would feel alot better about not being able to get it if i knew they were still in production and colt planned on making 1,000,000; but i'm sure thats not the case.

got me I say one and it looked really nice. Tobad I was there selling a custom shop Kimber to pay bills.

If the Colt connecion fails I know Caspian recently staarted making a series of repo 1911 parts so guys can make a vintage looking 1911

HOLY CRAP ARE YOU KIDDING?! Caspian quality with 100 year old style? Are these for sale online yet?

i did a quick look around and found that caspian is indeed making the original 1911 (not A1) frames and slides, they don't seem to be making anyy of the other parts that would be hard to find though, like the milled triggers and short stub thumb safeties and short grip safeties and the original ww1 style taipered front and U notch rear.

The days of chopping up a government model bare bones 1911 are over, retro is in. The manufacturers need to start to recognize this.

Yes, they are still being produced. My dealer had a used one (appeared to never have been fired) and was willing to order a NIB one for me direct from Colt for $970.
