Went to my local gun show today and found the Colt I've been looking for for several months now. It is a new production Series 70. I cannot tell you how many local shops I've been hitting on weekends trying to find this particular gun.
Saw it on a dealers table almost as soon as I walked in the door! Price tag was $989.00. Did the paperwork, etc.....15 or so minutes later it was mine:)

Berea gunshow this weekend I take it? Maybe I'll hit it tommorow. Hope there is some good stuff left for me.

Walking around the show carrying my new purchase I must have been ask a hundred times: "Whats in the Colt box?":)

Have to admit I got pretty tired of constantly saying: "Not for sale, just bought it."

I saw many Colt 1911s at the show including several older style Series 70 guns......but I saw NO other new ones as I had just purchased. The dealer I had just bought from must have been the only one there with one of these, since I saw no others.

It's good to know what you want before going there, otherwise it will make your head spin. I have been feeling quite revolvery as of late.

Love the series 70, you got it for a great price too. I've been seeing new 1991s pop up here and there between 850-999. Last new series 70 I saw a couple months ago was $1059 I believe.

Have an older series 70, love it.

Dang that pistol is a hottie. There, I said it. Somebody needed to.

See the clean look without the front slide serrations, and the finely detailed rear slide serrations, no silly slant? And the way cool duck bill and the all business hammer?
THAT'S a tough Colt .45!

Almost as pretty as my 01911. But what can I say, I'm biased! Still, one of the nicest new Colt 1911's I've ever seen. Most of the non-military offerings don't appeal to me that much.
