Well Gents,

The day I turned 21 (many years ago now ops: ), I bought my first 1911, a Colt 1991A1. Mil spec, absolutely no enhancements. Here she is many years later....:

Additions:

Wilson Combat Pyramid Night Sights
Ed Brown beavertail grip safety
Ed Brown Hammer
Ed Brown trigger
Wilson Combat Stainless barrel bushing
Springfield Armory Match stainless barrel
Kimber thumb safety (Hey, I just like the way they feel  )
Kimber flgr
4.5 lb trigger job
Slide Cobra coated by Tripp Research
Receiver Cobra Chromed by Tripp Research
Stainless Hex grip screws

I have 7 1911's (including a TRS Thunder Ranch with the Accuracy Guarantee), but this one is my favorite and the most accurate), enjoy.

Ive never had the pleasure of firing a 1991, or even had the pleasure of viewing one up close, I oughta get me one.

And are those the grips it came with? they look comfy.

Nice pics, and nice piece, youve taken good care of her :D

 .....You have not lived yet!

Hogue wrap around. Very comfy, they "stick" in your hand to give you a very positive grip....

Like Dark, I've never fired a 1911, handled one a few times though in my 17 years in this world..

Very nice looking though, wish I could afford a colt.

If you don't mind me asking what is the price for some thing like that? I'm sure it is way out of my price range my wifes dad said if me and her get into shooting he would get us a gun of our chose this xmas.

LOL yea I was thinking that but I'm sure he probably coulden't even afford one of these. I supose I could always tell him we want a custom gun. made auto loader based on an 1911 or 1991 chambered for a .454 casuel. I'm sure he couldent afford that but how great would it be :D

My wife tells me he may by her another for her bday too.

Really nice setup Mace. Kinda reminds me of a cleaner version of the old Colt 'Combat Elite' 2-tones but much cleaner...Keep it up!!

Back in the early 90's when I bought the basic Colt: $450
Ed Brown Beavertail: $60
Ed brown Hammer: $25
Kimber flgr: $10
Kimber Thumb Safety: $20
Ed Brown Trigger: $25
Wilson Combat Pyramid Night Sights: $100
Tripp Research Cobra Chrome and Cobra Coat: $150 (GREAT DEAL)
Wilson Combat Stainless bushing: $20
Springfield Armory Match Barrel: $100

Various install costs: roughly $500-600

The groups this bad boy produces?: PRICELESS!!

How come you left the mainspring housing black? Is it because its polymer?

Yeah. I also like the look. I have a Les Baer TRS, but the one can hold it's mud against it.

wow 500-600 might be do able by her dad :D

Only thing I might want to add is a compinsator. How hard would one be to add to that?

Easy. It just takes the place of a barrel bushing and you are good to go. Also, it should come with a double helix spring set-up to compensate for the added weight of the compensator.

Try the .460 Rowland. Conversion kit runs about 300 dollars, and it uses standard .45 ACP mags. You could also use .45 Super in it then, as it has the same headspace as both, and it's a girly man cartridge compared to the Rowland. :what:

Muzzle energy is close to 1000 ft-lbs.

I've also seen a Lar-grizzly in .50 AE.

You the man for pointing this out. The rounds arn't nearly as big as the .454 casule but they are more than enough for fun :D

I wonder how much I could get a decent 1991a1 or 1911 to fit that kit into? If I could keep it around $550 there might be a chance. Also do they make full hight compinsators? The ones I have seen only are not as tall as the rest of the gun. Kind of messes up the looks if you ask me.

I bought a Colt 1991A! two years ago for $560. They come in a very basic setup, but the new slides have nice roll marks now instead of just saying "1991A1".

I haven't seen full height ones, but I would assume that a custom shop could make you one...for a price that is. Of course, .460 may not be best suited for your intended purpose, so think about what you'll be using it for, as .50 AE or Casull may suit better for it.

My thoughts exactly.

I like the clean lines, no frilly crap, all business, functional and the cool factor is high.

What more could you ask for in a pistol

I like all types of guns, but this one is a perfect example of why I come back time and again to the 1911. I have only one two tone, but other than that, your pistol is EXACTLY the way I set mine up.

VERY well done Mace.

Actually, it has MORE stuff than the old Combat Elites did. Those didn't have beavertails or big thumb safeties, for instance.

It's main use will be punching paper and posibly stoping bad guys.

Oh and to look very very cool :what:

Yea I supose I could have a custom compinsator made. Probably cost me a good bit but would be very sweet looking. I would prefer this in .454c but of corse I'm sure the casule round wont fit in the frame :D
