A guy at work says his brother is looking to sell his Colt .22. It's an auto, .22LR, matte stainless, 2 mags and should have it's original box.

I guess it doesn't have any model name on it, any ideas what it is exactly? I was hoping it would be an older Woodsman, but now I'm not sure. He's asking $250 for it. He's gonna bring it into work next Monday so I can take a look at it anyways.

Never been a big Colt fan, so I don't know much at all about em.

Thanks in advance

If it is stainless it is the Colt .22 Automatic, made in the 90s after the Woodsman was discontinued. They started out calling them the Cadet but somebody else had that registered as a trademark.

It really operates more like a High Standard Duramatic than anything else I know of. I never heard anything bad about them but apparently they could not compete with Ruger Mk II or Browning Buckmark.

Well that explains it I guess :) I have a Stoeger Pro Series 95 (High Standard Victor clone). So it operates pretty much the same then, just with the steeper angle on the grip? I don't suppose High Standard parts are at all interchangeable on the Colt tho.

$250 a decent price?

sounds like the Colt cadet or the Colt cadet Target..

decent little .22..had one of each..both shot extremely well and the target model was really accurate..

$250 is decent if its the 6" target..I have seen those for $225 to $275..the 4" model I have seen from $200 to $250.

I think I read somewhere..the Beretta Neos shares some parts with it..

If this is what you're talking about, it is the model I have! I paid $215.00 for it years ago. Mine has the 4.5" barrel, not the 6", which added $100.00 to the price.

I love this gun! Mine has over 20,000 rounds through it, mainly the Federal bulk pack from Wal-Mart, which has been SUPERB. Out of 37 boxes (20,350 rounds) I can recall throwing away ONE round which was discolored and didn't look right. Other than that, I cannot think of ANY ammo-related malfunctions with the Federal.

The gun has performed flawlessly for me. It still has the original springs in it, and hasn't ever been fully stripped down for a truly detailed internal cleaning. It just keeps plinking away!

BTW, one of these sold on AuctionArms recently for $344.00, so maybe $250 isn't a bad deal.

No, the Colt Cadet (I'll call 'em that until the copyright lawyer catches up with me.) is not at all related to a High Standard Victor.

The mechanical design is similar to a High Standard Duramatic which is entirely different from any other HS. I doubt there are any interchangeable parts, but the straight line striker instead of a swinging hammer and the bolt on molded butt instead of a grip frame are pretty characteristic.
